Overview
Math Expert Teacher (Instructional Coach) at Holyoke Public Schools is an experienced educator who serves as a model of excellence and collaborates with district and school staff to improve teaching and learning. The IC/ET will work with the District Academic Department and schools to support curriculum resource development, professional development facilitation, coaching staff, leading teacher collaboration, and participation in focus groups and training. The role focuses on enhancing student learning and achievement, using student performance data and classroom observations to guide practice, and aligning work with district priorities and adopted curricula. Responsibilities
Collaborate with the District Academic Department and schools to support curriculum resource development, professional development facilitation, coaching, teacher collaboration, and participation in focus groups and training. Help implement district and school priorities and adopted curricula using student performance data and classroom observations. Provide small-group and individual coaching to teachers to improve instructional practice; lead or participate in professional development sessions. Support explicit interventions for at-risk students or cohorts as part of school-based initiatives. Contribute to ongoing assessment of student learning and teacher practice to drive continuous improvement. Complete 10 extra work days beyond the teacher's contract to support district and school planning (5 days for new-teacher induction, 5 days determined by the principal). Qualifications
At least five years of relevant teaching experience. Deep expertise in instructional practice and the ability to model high-quality teaching. Ability to support the continual development of all teachers through coaching and professional development facilitation. Strong collaboration and communication skills; commitment to equity and culturally responsive teaching. Additional details
