Join RS&H as a Senior Principal Airfield Engineer. This role leads the Chicago airfield discipline on airport projects, delivering innovative design and technical excellence across projects of varying size and complexity. You will lead, develop and deliver projects, maintain client contact, and help the team win work. Responsibilities
Direct the development and evaluation of engineering reports and plans, and specification criteria for a variety of projects. Supervise engineering design development, design detailing, code analysis, construction document production, and construction administration. Coordinate with project teams, manage client communications, contribute to proposals, marketing, and presentations. Mentor discipline associates and project managers on professional, technical, and operational best practices. Work on large, complex multidiscipline projects and support the Chicago airfield discipline across engagements. Travel as required across the region to existing or potential airport clients. Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s of Engineering in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an ABET-accredited program. Minimum 20 years of experience with 5+ years in civil design of airport-related facilities at medium and/or large hub airports. Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) registration or ability to obtain within 6 months of starting. Previous project management and team leadership experience. Strong communication, analysis, and documentation skills; ability to work in a flexible, team-oriented environment. Ability to travel regionally and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications
Experience mentoring engineering staff and working on General Engineering Consultant (GEC) contracts or as a senior member of a GEC team. Experience in civil design of airport facilities at medium or large hub airports. Marketing, business development, quality management, and associate development experience.
