Aquatics Director
at the Harrison Family YMCA fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while managing high-quality, member-focused aquatics programs including but not limited to swim lessons, swim team, and lifeguard training courses. Responsibilities
Direct programs and services to meet community needs, supervise existing activities, establish new activities, and expand the program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Assist in marketing and distributing program information. Monitor daily pool operations to comply with state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations; maintain proper pool chemical levels and facility maintenance records. Recruit, hire, and train diverse staff and volunteer teams; onboard and develop staff for success; ensure staff certifications are current and complete. Conduct lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR courses. Model relationship-building skills; develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations; maintain clear and concise communication within area of responsibility. Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compile program statistics to evaluate effectiveness and participation; secure and schedule pool facilities; create and schedule classes, practices, and meets. Assist in the Harrison Family YMCA’s Annual Campaign fundraising activities. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Executive Director or Chief Executive Officer. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred. YMCA Team Leader certification preferred. Certified Pool Operator preferred. American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and/or Instructor Trainer certification preferred. Two or more years of aquatics-related experience required (e.g., aquatics coordinator, lifeguard, swim lesson instructor). Minimum age of 21. Within 30 days of hire, required trainings include American Red Cross Lifeguard & CPR/AED and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer, plus several internal trainings as listed, as applicable. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Scheduling flexibility including early mornings, late nights, and weekend work as needed. Valid NC Driver’s License and ability to travel as required with a driving record that meets YMCA policies; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used. Compensation and Benefits
