Lead legislative and administrative advocacy aligned to CAFB’s annual state policy agenda. Develop and implement California-specific policy strategies in collaboration with the Vice President of Advocacy & Public Affairs and CAFB staff, member food banks, and lobbyists. Maintain CAFB’s presence, reputation, and relationships with state legislators and state agency officials; surface policy needs and hunger context. Organize forums and feedback loops for members to provide up-to-date policy information and identify policy priorities; provide strategic consultation and support to members seeking policy solutions. Collaborate with national partners, legislative offices, and state program administrators. Supervise a team of three and a lobbying contractor; report to the Vice President of Advocacy & Public Policy. Work primarily in Sacramento with approximately 30% travel to Oakland, conferences, and member food banks; hybrid work arrangement. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, social services, or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred but not required. Minimum of 5 years of successful professional experience managing government affairs programs of a similar scope and experience advocating in California. Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range: $100,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr. Competitive salary commensurate with experience; eligible for the organization’s Employee Health & Benefits Plan. Location: Oakland, CA; majority of time in Sacramento; 30% travel to Oakland, conferences, and member food banks. Hybrid work schedule and work/life balance. Employment details
