Collaborate with a multidisciplinary set of engineers to analyze compressible flows in supersonic and hypersonic flight conditions and use these analyses to drive design of flight and propulsion systems. Understand engineering principles and apply them to technical tasks. Lead and participate in high-fidelity computational analyses to guide design improvements in the fields of aerodynamics, aero-mechanics and aero-acoustics. You may use both Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations and multiphysics solvers. Document and communicate assumptions, inputs and proposed solutions to multidisciplinary teams for review. Support validation of new designs and technologies through benchtop or larger-scale testing. Prepare presentations and slides to communicate ideas and/or progress on projects. Work effectively with Integrated Product Teams to create and verify novel design solutions that meet program objectives and requirements (technical, cost, schedule). Lead external aero design and analysis on cowls, leading edges, control surfaces as well as internal engine intrusive feature analysis. Required Qualifications
This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status. Masters degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with a strong background in aerodynamics and compressible flow. Five years aerodynamics analysis experience of supersonic flows. Strong understanding of engineering principles and applying them to technical tasks. Ability to investigate, model and provide critical insight into complex physical flow phenomena. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. Skilled in CFD, preferably using Pointwise, iCFD++ and Tecplot. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance. Willingness to work at an office located in Bohemia, NY or Rockledge, FL. Desired Characteristics
Experience in the verification, validation and accreditation (VV&A) process, as it pertains to CFD and other fluid mechanical analytical tools. Experience with experimental setups and equipment in a hands-on environment. Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn. The salary range for this position is $126,700 - $168,900 USD annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by factors including experience, education, and work location.
