Senior Design Engineer (Hybrid / Decatur, GA)

The role focuses on product development from concept through production, including new product development, sustaining, and resolution of field problems. The position leads electro-mechanical product design and/or redesign, part assembly and detailed part drawings. Prototyping, testing, and assembly of samples are included, and collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential. Responsibilities
Leads various aspects of the design process including development of part geometry, assembly design and drawing generation. Design work ranges from new product development to product enhancements and cost reduction. Develops and distributes engineering data in the form of Engineering Change Notices, bills of material and parts tracking. (35%) Partners with manufacturing facilities to resolve part or assembly issues, deviation requests and bill of material errors to keep the manufacturing lines running and ensure quality product is produced. Conducts pilot/pre-production runs. (15%) Actively participates in, or leads on occasion, team meetings using the product delivery system (stage gate product development) for each major product. (10%) Initiates and develops concepts for new products from Project Charters and Specification Matrix provided by the Product Manager and other sources such as reviewing competitor samples and free design techniques. Ensures concepts align with standard manufacturing methods used in the appropriate facility. (15%) Continuously looks to improve processes related to productivity, quality, purchasing and manufacturing; explores new or alternate processes, equipment, and/or training; and tracks technology advancements via tradeshows, vendors, or other methods. (10%) Supports Better, Smarter, Faster & Lean Transformation efforts as a Kaizen team participant and assists with post-Kaizen activities as appropriate. (10%) Submits test and prototyping requests and collaborates with the model shop for prototype production and sample assembly. Reviews functional specifications, project charters and competitors samples. (5%) Qualifications
Understands engineering fundamentals and can communicate verbally and in writing, through sketches and engineering drawings. Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and PLM software (preferably Windchill), plus Microsoft Office. Proficient in LEAN methodologies and DMAIC tools. Works well in cross-functional team environments. Understanding of manufacturing methods such as stamping, drawing, casting, extruding of metals and plastics. Leadership to influence and enlist cooperation to complete and implement new product development on time and within budget. Knowledge of UL/CSA and testing processes is a plus. Understand and adhere to applicable industry and safety standards. Education
Bachelors Degree or Equivalent in Mechanical Engineering Experience
3 to 5 years Physical Requirements

Domestic (USA) and Mexico - up to 10%. Compensation
The range for this position is $80,400.00 to $144,700.00. Placement within this range may vary depending on experience and geographic location.
