Position Overview
The Emerging Tech Senior Project Engineer will be testing the software of the charging system control unit and other HV Auxiliary modules. This includes testing the charging system, functions at the component level, cyber security and functional safety testing. Testing environments range from manual to fully automated, with setups from bench to HIL and vehicle testing. Working with a cross-functional team provides a great environment and learning opportunity.

We currently have a great opportunity for an Emerging Tech Senior Project Engineer on our TRATON USA R&D Team.
Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end testing process for software releases of the charging and distribution system, including defining test scope, writing test cases, and executing tests.
Perform functional, cybersecurity, and functional-safety testing in environments ranging from manual to fully automated, including bench setups, HIL, and vehicle testing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze issues, debug software, and suggest improvements to enhance product quality.
Provide release recommendations based on test results, ensuring that software meets quality expectations within defined timelines.
Mentor and support team members in issue analysis, debugging, and test strategy development.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 8 years of experience in product design/development
At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 6 years of experience in product design/development
At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 3 years of experience in product design/development
At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
Additional Requirements
Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status).
Desired Skills
Experience in functional software testing, including writing test scenarios, test cases, and test reports.
Knowledge of Vehicle Architecture and Electric Vehicle Charging protocols such as ISO 15118, SAE J1772 and IEC 61851 is a plus.
Hands-on experience with HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing and automation frameworks.
Experience of using Vector tool chain, especially CANalyzer, CANoe, and CCS Listener for charging interface testing EVCC-EVSE (to SAE J1772, ISO 15118-2 and -20).
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Familiarity with issue tracking, test management tools, and software development lifecycle processes.
General understanding of vehicle architecture and communication protocols (CAN/LIN) including SAE J1939
Good understanding of Diagnostic protocols, including UDS
Work experience as an Embedded C/C++ Developer or Model Based Controls within automotive applications
Familiarity with ASIL C or ASIL D ISO 26262 Systems and Software work products
General understanding of vehicle network cyber-security (e.g., Threat Analysis and Risk Assessments for ECUs)
