Oakbrook Terrace, IL (travel as required) Responsibilities
Lead and deliver client engagements: drive end-to-end delivery of advisory projects focused on fraud risk management, including risk assessments, program assessments, policy development, operational enhancements, and independent testing across financial institutions and FinTechs. Fraud risk program development: design, assess, and enhance fraud risk management frameworks for financial institutions. Regulatory compliance and governance: advise clients on fraud-related regulatory expectations (BSA/AML, FFIEC, CFPB, OCC). Fraud strategy & benchmarking: lead industry benchmarking studies, identify trends, and advise on mitigation strategies. Team leadership and project management: manage engagement teams, ensure timely, high-quality delivery, and maintain accountability for scope, deliverables, timelines, budgets, and client satisfaction. Subject matter expertise: act as a thought leader in fraud risk management, detection, and loss prevention; provide insights on emerging risks and regulatory priorities (incl. AI and data analytics). Client relationship management: build trusted relationships with client stakeholders and identify opportunities for value-added services. Market and business development: contribute to proposals, solution design, and go-to-market activities; develop thought leadership and training content. Cross-functional collaboration: work with legal, risk, internal audit, compliance, and technology to deliver integrated solutions. Innovation and technology enablement: evaluate fraud detection tools and emerging technologies. Coaching and talent development: mentor junior staff and contribute to the team’s knowledge base. Quality assurance and risk management: uphold quality standards and mitigate engagement risks. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Forensics, Criminal Justice, or related field required. Advanced degree (MBA, JD, or related) preferred. Certifications:
Professional certifications such as CFE, CAFS, CAMS, CFCS or equivalents strongly preferred. Experience:
Minimum 6 years in fraud risk management, financial crime compliance, or internal audit; 3+ years in client-facing consulting is ideal. Experience leading fraud-related engagements at banks, FinTechs, or other financial institutions. Proven ability to lead project teams and deliver outcomes in a deadline-driven environment. Law enforcement experience is a plus. Technical Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of fraud typologies, detection techniques, regulatory requirements (BSA/AML, KYC, FFIEC, Reg E, Reg Z, UDAAP); experience with analytics and case management systems. Experience with data analytics, AI-driven fraud detection, and digital banking fraud trends is a plus. Consulting Skills:
Project management, scope definition, resource planning, and issue resolution. Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to translate fraud risks into actionable client insights. Leadership & Collaboration:
Experience mentoring staff; cross-functional teamwork with legal, technology, audit, and compliance; entrepreneurial mindset; willing to travel as needed. Communication & Presentation:
Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to craft compelling proposals and client narratives. Strategic Thinking & Personal Attributes:
Strong analytical/problem-solving skills; high integrity and professionalism; team-oriented and adaptable to fast-paced client work. Other Preferred Qualifications:
Thought leadership contributions in fraud/financial crime; strong network in the field. Travel requirements may be up to 60%, with current expectation around 20%. Compensation:
