Base pay range $102,500.00/yr - $202,000.00/yr

About The Role FTI Consulting's Strategic Communications segment is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter to join its team in Washington, D.C., specializing in providing public affairs and communication services to companies within the industrials sector. Our clients represent a range of industries, including chemicals, manufacturing, infrastructure, agrifood, transportation, and aerospace and defense. The team offers expert counsel to help clients navigate complex regulatory environments, manage public perception, and engage effectively with stakeholders. Services encompass policy advocacy, issues and crisis communications, media relations, campaigns and reputation management.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute across a wide range of accounts within the industrials sector. You will take an active role in supporting the day-to-day management of client accounts. In this role, you will play a critical role in delivering integrated communication programs to achieve successful results against client goals and objectives. You will lead high-impact public affairs and communications programs, guiding clients through complex regulatory environments, managing sensitive issues, and shaping narratives that influence policy and public perception. A Director is expected to stay up to date on key issues and current events for their clients, as well as generally across relevant industries.

What You'll Do

Serve as one of the day-to-day client contacts for accounts; manage the overall quality of work on multiple accounts by demonstrating professional and team leadership

Write and edit a variety of materials (e.g., memos, press releases, presentations, emails, media pitches, web content)

Demonstrate an understanding of client information, including business strategy, services, stakeholders, and competitive landscape

Deliver high-quality work focused on client needs

Create client-ready deliverables in a timely and efficient manner

Take a proactive approach and anticipate client needs

Counsel clients about industry, company, and market developments

Identify resource needs and work with managers to assign individual responsibilities

Support billing procedures to ensure timely and accurate delivery of client invoices

Adhere to the company's hybrid in-office attendance requirements

Adhere to time entry requirements, including accuracy and timeliness

Help clients identify and escalate risks in order to act and communicate with integrity

Participate in the generation of new business proposals and presentations

Identify emerging opportunities to add more value for the client

Work and demonstrate mentoring ability; effectively manage individuals and teams and develop relationship-building efforts

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

5 years of relevant post-graduate professional experience in a public affairs firm, a corporate role, and/or state/federal government experience

Superior public policy, writing, editing, and researching skills

Understands and lives by FTI's values, Code of Ethics and the Strategic Communications Rules of Practice, and works with junior staff to embed these concepts within the firm's culture

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas

Ability to travel to clients and to FTI office(s) as needed

Proven project management skills and the ability to proactively support/counsel key client relationships

Strong time and priority management skills and an ability to effectively juggle multiple client projects

Demonstrated development of a professional network and experience with media contacts, database tools and pitching media to secure client coverage is required

Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

Understanding of Associated Press Style Guideline
