This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

You will provide technical leadership to a team of engineers as the MK2 Crew Lander Fluid & Propulsion system architect. This role is responsible for setting the technical direction of vehicle-level architectures for the main propulsion system, reaction control system, and the supporting fluid systems. You will define the engineering strategy, own the technical roadmap, drive trade studies, and provide technical expertise.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the MK2 Crew Lander Fluid & Propulsion system

Lead technical strategy and definition of the main propulsion system, reaction control system, and supporting fluid systems

Review technical products of the engineering team ensuring high quality technical decisions to drive a high performing architecture while meeting safety, cost, and schedule goals

Present directly to senior leadership and be a single point of contact for fluid & propulsion technical issues

Own program level risks

Mentor experienced and early career engineers

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of experience designing cryogenic and gaseous propulsion systems.

5+ years of technical leadership of agile engineering teams

Expertise in propulsion system fluid analysis tools such as Fluent, Sinda Fluint, or Flow 3D.

Demonstrated ability to drive teams to challenge requirements and identify simple solutions.

Hands-on experience with the development lifecycle of propulsion components and systems.

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of integrity.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, computing, or another technical field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing complex propulsion systems in dynamic and scrappy environments.

Experience delivering human rated propulsion systems.

Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement.

Compensation Compensation ranges by location: CA applicants is $164,682.00-$230,554.80; CO applicants is $155,939.00-$218,313.90; WA applicants is $164,682.00-$230,554.80. Other site ranges may differ.
