The Courtyard by Marriott in Boone, NC, a well-established, family-owned hotel operated by Poteat Hospitality, is seeking a hands-on, community-oriented General Manager to lead our team to continued success. This is a highly strategic and operational leadership role ideal for someone who is passionate about guest service, team development, and driving hotel performance. Marriott FOSSE experience is required. Youll be empowered to lead all aspects of the propertys operationfrom front desk to housekeeping, food & beverage to engineeringwhile also actively participating in the local community and representing the Courtyard brand with pride. Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day hotel operations, ensuring service excellence across all departments. Lead and mentor department heads and frontline associates with a collaborative, team-first mentality. Manage MOD coverage; schedule should not anticipate Monday through Friday. The candidate will need to be flexible based on business needs (4060 hrs/week expected). This will include serving as MOD on evenings/weekends in the absence of the AGM or other senior leaders. Champion Marriott brand service standards, including GSS, QA, and operational audits. Drive guest satisfaction through coaching, accountability, and continuous improvement. Be highly visible on the property; proactively engage with guests and respond to feedback. Partner with our Sales and Revenue Manager to develop and execute strategies to maximize occupancy and ADR. Attend bi-weekly sales and revenue meetings and support new business development initiatives. Represent the property at community events, chamber meetings, and brand-related functions. Assist in the development and management of the hotels annual budget. Monitor labor costs, productivity, inventory, and other controllables to maximize profitability. Conduct regular P&L reviews, forecasting, and cost-control analysis. Recruit, hire, train, and retain a strong, motivated team aligned with brand and ownership goals. Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and associate development plans. Lead HR processes, including compliance, payroll approvals, benefits communication, and scheduling. Ensure the upkeep and cleanliness of public areas, back-of-house areas, guestrooms, and the kitchen. Oversee Bistro and beverage operations to meet Marriott and health standards. Support the engineering team with capital projects and maintenance planning. Qualifications

Education & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in hotel operations leadership (GM or AGM). Marriott FOSSE system experience is required.

Skills:

Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate teams in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Strong analytical, financial, and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Hands-on leadership style and willingness to jump in when needed.

Additional Requirements:

Must pass background and drug screening. Available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
