Overview
Fort Valley State University (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Executive Director of Financial Aid.
Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.

Responsibilities
Provide leadership for comprehensive campus-wide financial aid programs, including federal, state, institutional, and private aid.
Monitor and review federal, state, institutional, and Board of Regents policy changes to ensure compliance.
Oversee the administrative functions of the Financial Aid Office and manage the departmental budgets.
Supervise FA personnel, providing training in federal and state regulations and facilitating ongoing professional development opportunities.
Work with the Athletics Compliance Office to ensure compliance with NCAA/NJCAA rules and regulations.
Serve as Title III grant manager for the Office of Financial Aid.
Supervise the reconciliation of federal, state, private, and institutional funds.
Lead the administration of state and federal aid, scholarships, and student employment programs that support student recruitment and retention.
Complete institutional reporting requirements, including balancing Pell and HOPE programs.
Serve as a key contributor to the division and college leadership teams as appropriate.
Serve as Data Steward for the Banner Student Financial Aid System, testing new releases and patches; assigning and maintaining security; and automating modules as applicable.
Develop and implement financial aid policies and procedures.
Serve as audit liaison during Federal, State, and Board of Regents audits.
Implement new financial aid software and web-based products.
Supervise the coordination of financial aid seminars and programs.
Advise students and parents in the financial aid process.
Represent the institution at regional and state professional meetings and conferences.
Direct the management of department social media accounts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of federal, state, private, and institutional financial aid programs, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of the Banner financial aid modules.
Knowledge of federal and state student aid online reporting systems.
Knowledge of need analysis principles.
Knowledge of budget development and management principles.
Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
Skilled in the delegation of responsibility and authority.
Skilled in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
Skilled in decision-making and problem-solving.
Skilled in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skilled in oral and written communication.
Skilled in working independently while exercising professional judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in a field related to the occupational area preferred.
At least five years of related experience required.
Knowledge of Banner and financial aid technical experience to ensure compliance with federal regulations preferred.
Working Conditions The work is typically performed at a desk or table; occasionally the employee may sit, stand, or stoop. The job requires travel to events as needed. The work is typically performed in an office. The work may involve travel to meet requirements.
Supervisory Controls
The position has direct supervision over: Assistant Financial Aid Director (1), Financial Aid Advisor (3), Financial Aid Assistant (1), and Customer Service Representative.
Guidelines Guidelines include the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the federal student aid handbook, Georgia Student Financial Commission state program regulations, the IRS tax guide, NCAA guidelines, the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators guidelines, and university and Board of Regents policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application. This position develops department guidelines.
