Overview
We are seeking an experienced MES Architect to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing execution systems that bridge the gap between enterprise resource planning (ERP) and shop floor operations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in manufacturing processes, system integration, and industrial automation technologies. What you’ll do (Basic Duties)
Design comprehensive MES architecture solutions aligned with business requirements Define system interfaces, data flows, and integration points with ERP, WMS, SCADA, and other enterprise systems Develop technical specifications, system blueprints, and implementation roadmaps Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of MES solutions Implementation & Integration
Lead MES implementation projects from conception to deployment Configure and customize MES platforms (COTS or custom-developed solutions) Integrate manufacturing systems with databases, PLCs, HMIs, and IoT devices Develop APIs and middleware requirements for seamless data exchange Manufacturing Operations
Analyze manufacturing workflows and identify optimization opportunities Design solutions for production tracking, quality management, and inventory control Implement real-time manufacturing dashboards and reporting systems Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives Technical Leadership
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, operations, and engineering Provide technical guidance to development teams and system administrators Establish best practices for MES development and maintenance Mentor junior team members and conduct technical reviews What you need
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field 7+ years of experience in manufacturing systems and industrial automation 5+ years of hands-on experience with MES platforms and implementation Technical Skills: Expertise in MES platforms (Wonderware MES, Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk, or similar custom-developed solutions) Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and shop floor operations Experience with industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP) Proficiency in databases (SQL Server, Oracle) and programming languages (C#, Java, Python) Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and middleware technologies Understanding of cybersecurity principles for industrial systems Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of aerospace manufacturing operations Knowledge of quality management systems (AS 9100, FAA regulations) Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Industry 4.0 concepts Experience with validation processes in FAA-regulated industries Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities Strong communication and presentation skills Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environments Preferred Qualifications: Professional certifications (PMP, Six Sigma, ISA) Knowledge of advanced analytics and machine learning applications in manufacturing Note: This job description provides a general overview and does not include an exhaustive list of responsibilities and qualifications. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $190,000 - $220,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
