Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Interim Director of Finance on behalf of our wonderful nonprofit partner located in Scottsdale, Arizona!

This full-time onsite role offers the opportunity to lead and oversee all aspects of finance and accounting operations during a critical transition period. The Interim Director of Finance will be a key member of the leadership team, ensuring sound financial stewardship, compliance, and strategic guidance. This hands-on leader will oversee daily accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting while collaborating with leadership, board committees, and external vendors to ensure smooth and effective financial management. In this interim role, you will direct all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, audits, and compliance. You will work closely with the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and leadership team to ensure financial stability, provide accurate and timely reporting, and strengthen processes and systems. Oversee all accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll review, GL, reconciliations, and month-end close Lead budget creation, forecasting, and financial performance analysis Manage cash flow, investments, and capital budgets with Finance Committee input Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit regulations, tax filings, and donor requirements Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for leadership, board, and committees Partner with leadership to improve systems, processes, and internal controls Qualifications

Proven experience in nonprofit finance and accounting leadership Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and donor restrictions Skilled in month-end close, audits, and financial analysis Proficient in financial software and advanced Excel skills Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Compensation and Benefits

This interim opportunity offers an hourly range of $52–$58/hr. In addition, this role offers medical, dental, vision, and voluntary life insurance, an employee assistance plan (EAP), and commuter and transit benefits for those who are working on average 30 or more hours per week.
