Location Our Walnut Creek, CA office is conveniently located near public transportation (BART), is ideally situated for bicycle commuters, has plenty of free parking, and an abundance of eateries in the surrounding area. Hybrid/flexible schedules available with flexibility to work from home 1-2 days a week as business allows. This position has frequent meetings with global leaders and works late evenings and weekends as needed to support urgent business needs.
Position Summary The Director, Finance & Accounting is responsible for overseeing and managing all financial operations across North America and Central America. This role provides strategic financial leadership, ensures compliance with financial regulations under US GAAP and group accounting polices, analyze financial performance and indicators to support senior management to make decisions to drives business performance, and manages regional finance and accounting team.
Canadian Solar is seeking an agile and dynamic Director of Finance and Accounting with a strong background in monthly close processes, provide supporting to financial statement analysis and resolving technical accounting issues. To be successful in this role, you’ll understand the dynamics of a manufacturing, sales and global distribution company which is has a complex structure of entities and intercompany operations. This role will be the connector between the operations in various locations across the Americas and be responsible for overseeing all financial reporting, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, tariff compliance, and intercompany transactions across multiple global entities. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, and international environment. This position requires a seasoned manager and leads a large organization of professionals.
Position Responsibilities
Lead and manage full function of Finance & Accounting across North America and Central America operations, including credit & collection, financial reporting, general ledger, tax, FP&A, accounting operations – billing, accounts payable/receivable, intercompany and related party transactions, and inventory management.
Oversee day-to-day finance and accounting functions, and ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing in compliance with US GAAP and group accounting policies.
Manage intercompany accounting across multiple international entities, business units, and product lines, ensuring reconciliation and compliance with global transfer pricing and consolidation requirements.
Lead annual budgeting and monthly/quarterly forecasting processes for the region
Monitor and analyze regional financial performance, identifying areas for improvements. Prepare and present financial reports and performance metrics to senior management.
Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams on inventory management, including physical inventory counts, and logistic cost optimization.
Lead the accounting and analysis of revenue recognition under ASC 606. Ensure compliance with global trade policies and tariff-related reporting for cross-border transactions.
Collaborate with external and internal auditors, tax advisors, and external consultants to support annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance, to ensure seamless processes.
Drive process improvements and maintain strong internal controls to continue enhancing reporting to ensure accuracy, and efficiency.
Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of finance professionals in Americas.
Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required); CPA or MBA with Big 4 experience is a strongly preferred
Minimum 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a global corporation
Experience working in a fast paced, multinational organization with multiple legal entities
Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition and internal controls
Hands-on experience with tariff and global trade compliance
Proven experience managing international intercompany transactions and consolidation processes
Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is preferred due to frequent collaboration with teams in Asia but is not required for success in this role

The pay range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000. This range represents annual base salary only, without regard to location, and does not include quarterly bonus or other incentives or benefits that may apply. The pay range for this role is subject to change.
