Overview The City of San Diego is seeking a highly skilled GIS Program Coordinator to lead the City’s enterprise geospatial strategy and operations. This role is responsible for architecting, maintaining, and evolving the City’s GIS environment, ensuring seamless integration with platforms such as Salesforce ("Get It Done"), Cartegraph, and SAP. The position directs a team of ten spatial analysts and collaborates with over 100 departmental GIS content owners to promote best practices in data generation, archiving, and utilization. As a key advisor to more than 1,200 daily GIS users, the Coordinator ensures the City’s geospatial systems are accurate, secure, and responsive.

Responsibilities

Lead enterprise geospatial strategy and operations for the City of San Diego.

Architect, maintain, and evolve the GIS environment with integrations to Salesforce, Cartegraph, and SAP.

Direct a team of ten spatial analysts and collaborate with over 100 departmental GIS content owners to promote data best practices.

Advise more than 1,200 daily GIS users to ensure accuracy, security, and responsiveness of geospatial systems.

Track infrastructure changes, maintain stakeholder dashboards, and champion the use of spatial analytics to enhance public service delivery.

Participate in IT governance processes and provide technical consultation for GIS initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor\'s degree in Geography, Spatial Analytics or Sciences Department featuring spatial analytics or Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial sciences technology, cartography, spatial statistics or remote sensing technologies

2+ years\' experience developing spatial analytics solutions, or relational database administration, or spatial tech support for operations or emergency response organizations

Desired Qualifications

Proven experience architecting, maintaining, and evolving enterprise GIS environments with robust integrations and lifecycle transitions.

Experience aligning GIS strategy with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce ("Get It Done"), Cartegraph, and SAP.

Collaboration skills guiding over 100 departmental GIS content owners on geospatial data best practices.

Expertise providing technical consultation during IT governance processes for GIS initiatives.

Ability to track and communicate GIS infrastructure changes and impacts to critical operational sites.

Commitment to safe, accurate, and responsive geospatial data practices meeting security, quality, and performance standards.

Ability to advocate for and implement spatial analytics to enhance public service delivery and operational efficiency.

Experience supervising a geospatial team of analysts in a dynamic environment.

Proficiency in maintaining documentation and dashboards to ensure transparency and stakeholder engagement.

Recognized as a GIS subject matter expert and strategic advisor to a large user base (1,200+ daily users), with enterprise-wide impact.
