The consultant will conduct field inspections, determine the extent of damages, and provide cost estimates for appropriate repairs. Inspections may include damaged roofs, foundations, and other damaged or collapsed structural elements, and damages to buildings caused by severe weather, hail, flooding, earthquakes, fires, explosions, construction defects, and other natural and man-made causes. Conduct field inspections to assess extent of damages and determine appropriate repairs. Prepare cost estimates for repairs and restoration, including damages from environmental conditions, construction defects, material/structural defects, and ground movements. Support litigation activities as needed (deposition, arbitration, and/or trial testimony and written expert reports). Travel locally and regionally by vehicle or plane (about 25% overnight travel; extended travel may be required for CAT events). Work in the field under varied conditions and climates; perform physical requirements of the job (including working in confined spaces and on roofs) and operate field equipment. Set up, calibrate, and operate measurement and data collection instruments (e.g., DokuSketch or similar). Apply technical proficiency in Xactimate; proficiency in Symbility, RS Means, Blue Beam, and MS Excel is preferred. Work independently and with cross-functional teams; communicate effectively in writing and verbally; provide excellent customer service. Prepare redacted work samples if requested. Qualifications
7+ years of experience performing commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential building inspections. 7+ years of experience cost estimating repairs for damages from environmental conditions, construction defects, material/structural defects, and ground movements. 7+ years of expertise in mid-to-large loss commercial, industrial, institutional and residential property restoration (as contractor or consultant). Strong understanding of the insurance industry; experience with insurance adjusters and preparing repair/restoration estimates and ROMs. Experience in insurance appraisals as both an appraiser and umpire; CPAU preferred. IAUA Certified Property Appraiser and Umpire is a plus. Experience providing litigation support (deposition, arbitration, trial testimony, and written expert witness reports) is a major plus. Ability to travel ~25% overnight, with potential extended travel for CAT events. Ability to work in the field under extreme conditions; physical capability for ladders and roof work. Experience or ability to be trained in measurement and data collection instruments (e.g., DokuSketch or similar). Technical proficiency with Xactimate; familiarity with Symbility, RS Means, Blue Beam; MS Excel highly desired. Strong writing and verbal communication skills; applicants should provide a redacted work sample if requested. Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or legal restrictions. Education
A high school diploma or GED required. An A.S. or B.S. in a related field is preferred; a combination of experience and education will be considered. Industry training/certifications such as IICRC, RRO, General Contractor License, Adjuster License, Xactimate training, etc., are highly desired. Additional training may be provided as needed. Compensation and Benefits
The total compensation range for this position is $100,000 – $150,000 per year. The base salary range is $100,000 – $130,000; variable compensation ranges from $0 – $20,000 per year (not limited to this range).
