Overview

Etched is seeking a skilled PCB Layout Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to high-performance data center products. You will design and optimize PCBs using Cadence Allegro, focusing on high-speed signaling (100G), power distribution, large BGA ball-map breakouts, and complex HDI PCB stack-ups to meet demanding performance, reliability, and efficiency standards. Base pay range

$225,000.00/yr - $275,000.00/yr Additional compensation types

Annual Bonus, Sign-on bonus, and Stock options About Etched

Etched is building AI chips that are hard-coded for individual model architectures. Our first product (Sohu) supports transformers with significantly higher throughput and lower latency than GPUs, enabling new product capabilities such as real-time video generation models and deep chain-of-thought reasoning. Responsibilities

Lead the design and optimization of high-speed PCB layouts using Cadence Allegro, tailored for 100G signaling. Implement impedance matching, trace routing, and crosstalk mitigation to meet data center performance demands. Develop and implement power distribution networks, including power planes, decoupling strategies, and thermal management to ensure reliability under heavy loads. Design complex High-Density Interconnect (HDI) PCB stack-ups, integrating blind/buried vias and microvias to achieve compact form factors while preserving signal integrity. Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to integrate PCB designs within the system architecture and participate in design reviews to optimize performance and manufacturability. You may be a good fit if you:

Have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field (advanced degrees or certifications are a plus). Have 10 years of experience in PCB layout design with a focus on high-speed signaling, power distribution, and HDI stack-ups for high-performance data center products. Proficiency in Cadence Allegro PCB design tools. Deep knowledge of high-speed digital design principles, including signal integrity and impedance control. Experience with complex HDI PCB design and manufacturing processes. Understanding of power distribution network design and thermal management for data centers. Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail. How we’re different

Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson: progress comes from model-specific hardware and larger training runs, driving consolidation around fewer architectures. We value engineering excellence and expect our technical staff to contribute to both engineering and research. Compensation Range
