Principal / Senior Principal Controls Software Design Engineer – Northrop Grumman (NGMC) Location: on-site in the greater Redondo Beach, CA area or Baltimore, MD area. Relocation assistance may be available. Travel: Yes, 10% of the time. Clearance: current DoD TS/SCI with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph. U.S. citizenship required. This position may be filled as either Principal Controls Software Design Engineer or Senior Principal Controls Software Design Engineer. What You’ll Get To Do

IPT-Level role, member of the Software Design Team focusing on Controls Software. Support the software design team lead and collaborate with other engineering functions to progress and mature the segment. Participate in critical engineering reviews and milestones (e.g., SRR, SFR, SDR, PDR, CDR, SVR, TRR). Responsibilities

Contribute to the design, development, integration, and validation of controls software for a complex System comprised of multiple Segments. Work at the Segment/IPT level to advance mature and emerging technologies. Support critical engineering reviews and milestones as requested by leadership. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to progress and mature the software segment. Qualifications

Basic Qualifications – Principal Controls Software Design Engineer

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with at least 5 years of experience; 3 years with a Master’s; or 1 year with a PhD Familiarity with Command and Control or Controls System software Proficiency in real-time embedded software Experience implementing requirements and interface definitions in software, plus code and unit testing Understanding of software design principles, computer architecture, and relevant technologies Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong technical briefing ability U.S. citizen Current active DoD TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph Basic Qualifications – Senior Principal Controls Software Design Engineer

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with at least 8 years of experience; 6 years with a Master’s; or 4 years with a PhD Familiarity with Command and Control or Controls System software Proficiency in real-time embedded software Experience implementing requirements and interface definitions in software, plus code and unit testing Understanding of software design principles, computer architecture, and relevant technologies Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong technical briefing ability U.S. citizen Current active DoD TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph Preferred Qualifications

Current active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance Knowledge of software design principles and patterns Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) Experience with hardware/software integration, test planning & execution, or operational support Experience with development tools and environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Cypress, Visual Studio, Python, C/C++) Experience with application management tools (GitLab, Nexus, Trivy, SonarQube, Doxygen) Familiarity with project and task management tools (Jira, Confluence) and agile methods Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 – $165,500.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 – $206,000.00 Base pay is a general guideline; final offers depend on scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills and market conditions.
