Whether it’s a building under construction or a shipment of an original Picasso, our inland marine underwriters provide flexible and creative solutions for challenging inland marine exposures. Responsibilities

Underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet inland marine line targets in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions; own key accounts/clients; maintain strong relationships with producers and clients in partnership with Market Management. Coach and mentor underwriters; participate in development and execution of regional underwriting strategy for the line of business; collaborate with Market Management, Claims, and other product lines to achieve marketing strategies, including cross-selling. Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top- and bottom-line targets; proactively manage capacity; evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation and understand catastrophe modeling and scenario interpretation (for relevant lines of business). Represent AzC externally to the market; foster involvement of functional areas in the underwriting process (e.g., MMC, ARC, Claims, Operations); build and maintain relationships with key producers, clients, and risk managers. Ensure accurate policy documentation and file maintenance for each risk and transaction; support policy administration and credit control processes. Support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business; liaise with MMC on market management initiatives. Participate in key projects and contribute to training and development of underwriters (e.g., Associate Underwriters, Underwriters); act as a referral point for other underwriters; participate in cross-regional activities as required. What You’ll Bring to the Role

11+ years of proven underwriting experience in inland marine; strong understanding of inland marine products and portfolio; established relationships with brokers and within the local market. Experience across multiple inland marine products (construction, transportation, miscellaneous coverages, and property such as builder’s risk, contractor’s equipment, motor truck cargo, physical damage, and scheduled properties); consideration for candidates with 9 years inland marine underwriting and 2 years property underwriting. Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics; professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII). Ability to assess risk exposures and natural hazards; manage underwriting books; analyze trends and scenario plans; apply market and customer knowledge to portfolio strategies. Strong data analysis and communication skills; ability to persuade and motivate; proficient with office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word). Willingness to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks and contribute to data-driven decision-making. What’s in it for you?
