Overview A Vice President (Associate Director) in Risk Solutions Group (“Derivative Products Group” or “DPG”) is part of Global Fixed Income Origination Group within Scotiabank’s Global Banking & Markets division. DPG is part of Origination team, which is a Private Side Group. A VP in DPG is a Coverage Officer responsible for primary client coverage, marketing, structuring, and pricing various fixed income and currency derivative products to the Bank’s lending Corporate Clients in the United States. The VP is responsible for advising clients and owning all aspects of coverage, including getting in place ISDA documentation, Credit lines and Derivative Regulatory Items for any Corporate Client that is a derivative end-user. On an actual live deal, the VP is responsible for modeling, structuring, quoting and managing the client. The VP must be able to analyze markets and client’s current corporate structure to come up with a strategy that is optimal from a corporate finance and market perspective. The VP must be familiar with different structuring and pricing systems and have strong financial and analytical skills, understand the bank’s policies and procedures well and have a thorough knowledge of currency and fixed income derivatives. The VP should have the ability to understand and work comfortable in an area where technology, pricing methodology, regulations and product applications change constantly. The VP must have strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with the Bank’s Corporate Clients and various internal groups (Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Credit, Trading, XVA, Operations, Legal). Most importantly, the VP will contribute to the overall success of the team, ensuring individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed in accordance with the business strategy.

What You’ll Do

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

A VP (Associate Director) in DPG’s primary goal is to cross-sell Fixed Income Derivatives that help the Bank’s lending Corporate Clients achieve a hedging objective while simultaneously generating Net Revenue that helps boost the return of the overall lending relationship

Providing thoughtful and thorough client coverage

Modeling, Pricing and Structuring Client Hedges

Negotiating ISDAs and ensuring clients have satisfied the Bank’s KYC/Derivative Regulatory Requirements

Working with Credit, and banking teams to create and maintain properly sized Credit Lines

Working with the different global trading desk to ensure orderly executions of live deals

Working with Analysts and Associates to create presentations and models

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
