Description
Provide in-home supervision of juvenile offenders, by planning, coordinating, and participating in the electronic monitoring program; screening clients for placement; completing home survey; conducting interviews with their clients and their guardians; and preparing and maintaining files and records. Other duties include appearing in court and testifying as needed; maintaining case records; and attending regional state levels meetings and training sessions held by the department of Juvenile justice.
The essential functions of the job are not limited to those listed in the job description. The City retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.
Monitors clients by making face to face and telephone contacts with all clients on active caseload; working and communicating service hours; staying in constant communication with clients, guardians, court system, schools, workplace, and other community agencies; reporting any malfunction or technical problems with the equipment. Covers clients on Outreach Detention caseload as needed. Maintains case files/documents by writing weekly contact summaries on each client; preparing court reports and termination summaries; completing daily schedules and mileage reports; verifying client appointments; gathering information for court, educational, community, and personal reports; reviewing all paperwork for grammar, spelling, and accuracy; submitting all paperwork in a timely manner. Attends meetings, trainings and court by completing forty hours of required training per year; attending monthly program staff meeting and case staffing; making appearances and being prepared to testify in court as needed; and attending school meetings and any other community referrals that are necessary to provide services to the clients. Participates in meetings, training sessions, and court appearances; completing at least forty hours of training per year; attending case staffing and program meetings; testifying in court; attending other related meetings; and making community referrals as necessary to provide case management services to clients. ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Performs additional duties as assigned. Education and Experience Associates Degree, with knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative or technical nature, from a college, vocational or technical school; and one to three years of experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above.
Certifications/Licenses
Valid Drivers License with acceptable driving record according to City Criteria CPR/First Aid/AED Job Knowledge Intermediate knowledge to perform most work in normal situations. Comprehension of standard situations and includes knowledge of most of the significant aspects of the subject.
Reading Advanced: Ability to read literature, books, reviews, scientific or technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and/or legal documents.
Writing Intermediate: Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
Math Basic: Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Communication Skills Decisions regarding interpretation of existing policies may be made. Contacts may involve stressful, negative interactions requiring high levels of tact and the ability to respond to aggressive interpersonal interactions. Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.
Independence and Decision-Making Normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. The assignment is usually reviewed frequently.
Fiscal Responsibilities No budgetary/fiscal responsibility.
Supervisory Responsibilities No responsibility for direction or supervision of others.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Responsible for appropriate use and maintenance of City equipment, tools and other resources, including work time. Regular and predictable attendance is expected. May frequently experience time pressure, emergency situations, frequent change of tasks, irregular work schedule/overtime, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, working closely with others as part of a team, and tedious or exacting work. May occasionally experience noisy/distracting environment.
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE Typically requires use of standard office equipment, including computer and related hardware and software; cell phone/pager, computer monitoring equipment, small hand tools; and any other equipment as appropriate or required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is typically performed in an office, a vehicle, and in clients homes, where there is frequent exposure to physical danger or abuse; occasional exposure to communicable diseases, wetness/humidity, and physical hazards; and rare exposure to mechanical, electrical, and fire hazards.
The employee is expected to use appropriate protective equipment for the assigned task (gloves, First Aid/CPR mask, etc.); and any other equipment as apparent or assigned.
