Job Description
An employer is looking for a Jira Forge Developer to join their enterprise level Jira team. This team owns Jira for the whole enterprise and recently migrated from Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud. The team is evolving from script-heavy configuration work to building robust, cloud-native applications using Atlassian Forge. We're looking for an experienced Jira Cloud Forge Developer to help architect and deliver scalable, secure, and user-friendly solutions that extend Jira Cloud functionality and integrate with the broader enterprise systems. As a Forge Developer, you’ll be responsible for designing and implementing custom Jira Cloud applications that enhance user experience, automate business processes, and support complex workflows. You’ll work closely with product owners, Jira administrators, and other developers to deliver tailored solutions using Forge, React, and TypeScript. This is not a Jira admin role or a junior developer position. We’re seeking someone who can hit the ground running with proven experience building Forge apps in production environments.
Responsibilities
• Design and develop Forge apps using Atlassian’s cloud development platform, including:
o Global pages
o Workflow validators and conditions
o Custom fields and UI panels
o Event-driven functions and background tasks
• Build intuitive user interfaces using React (UI Kit or Custom UI).
• Integrate Jira Cloud with external systems via REST APIs and webhooks.
• Implement custom business logic, validation rules, and workflow extensions.
• Leverage Forge features such as storage APIs, resolvers, queues, and triggers.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Ensure secure coding practices and scalable architecture for long-term maintainability.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members as needed.

Skills and Requirements
Proven experience developing Jira Cloud Forge apps in production environments.
Experience with the following modules but not limited to; global pages, workflow validators, custom fields, panels, UI modifications.
Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React (UI Kit or Custom UI) for Forge app development
Deep understanding of Jira Cloud architecture, including workflows, screens, fields, permissions, and schemes.
Experience with Jira REST APIs and integrating Jira with third-party systems.
Familiarity with Forge-specific concepts: storage, resolvers, queues, triggers, and event-driven architecture.
Ability to write clean, modular, and well-documented code.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience with legacy Jira scripting tools: ScriptRunner (Groovy), Power Scripts (SIL), Jira Expressions
Familiarity with SQL and data modeling.
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment best practices. null
