This role focuses on construction bodily injury claims arising from automobile, general liability and employers’ liability coverages, with oversight of complex primary claims and third-party claim administrator partners nationwide.

Active management of a caseload of high-value liability claims in the Construction book of business for assigned clients throughout the United States. Coordinate coverage referrals and compliance between third-party claim administrators, claim and legal management, and AXA XL’s compliance department. Provide claims oversight and guidance of TPAs in accordance with AXA XL best practices across phases of claim handling: coverage, investigation, evaluation, reserving, resolution and recovery. Collaborate with business partners on claim management strategies to deliver optimal outcomes and align exposure evaluation and resolution strategies. Consult with internal claim resources (regional practice leaders, claim legal) to mitigate claim exposure and expense. Perform claim account management for assigned clients, participate in TPA audits, and address technical and service issues related to TPA performance. Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders regarding claim experience, results, and trends (actuarial, reinsurance, credit risk and underwriting). Provide input into key metrics to support TPA claim audits and assist with coordination and retention of external counsel as needed.

What You’ll Bring

Advanced claim handling experience involving high-value/complex claim management and litigation management for automobile, general liability, and employers liability in the Construction book of business. Defined expertise in managing coverage and compliance issues related to automobile, general liability and employers liability. Multi-jurisdictional (U.S.) experience. Experience managing claims in an unbundled TPA insurance model and providing technical liability oversight. Experience with NY Labor Law desired. Overall knowledge of workers’ compensation and employers liability desired, but not required. Demonstrated managerial leadership and ability to influence external relationships; coach, set expectations, evaluate and hold TPAs accountable for delivering successful oversight claims. Effective verbal and written communication with seasoned negotiation skills, and strong organizational and time management. Proven ability to continuously improve internal processes, including claim processes, file outcomes and external relationships. Ability to collaborate with practice leaders, legal, TPAs and clients to achieve desired outcomes; share critical information with brokers, actuarial, reinsurance and business partners. Progression towards or completion of insurance or industry-related qualifications or certifications is preferred. Advanced experience handling construction bodily injury claims. Highest standards of personal and professional conduct.

For more information, please see Sustainability at AXA XL. The U.S. base salary range for this position is $106,000 to $186,500 USD. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, experience and location.
