Work Location : Ideally in the San Francisco Bay Area with a flexible hybrid work model; remote arrangements considered for qualified applicants.
Compensation : Annual salary target for this market is $130,000–$175,000. Actual compensation based on education, experience, and skill set.

About the Role As a
Technical Accounting Manager , you will deliver specialized accounting advisory services to a diverse client base, including technology, biotechnology, professional services, and consumer products companies. You will serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring expert guidance and high-quality service in complex accounting and financial reporting matters.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
Work directly with clients and their external audit firms to lead and manage technical accounting advisory projects (e.g., revenue recognition ASC 606, equity transactions, debt arrangements, business combinations, lease accounting ASC 842, financial reporting, and SEC reporting).
Primary client contact, managing engagements, fostering strong relationships, and proactively addressing client needs.
Demonstrate deep knowledge of the client’s business and identify high-risk accounting areas.
Oversee and manage project timelines, deliverables, and client communications to ensure successful outcomes.
Generate written components of reports and deliverables related to engagements.
Research technical accounting topics pertaining to engagements.
Train, mentor, and develop staff and senior staff, promoting technical excellence and professional growth.
Identify and implement technology solutions to streamline processes and enhance workflow efficiency.
Participate in thought leadership, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement activities.
Support business development through client relationships and networking.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA, CFA, CIA, CISA, or CISSP certification
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
U.S. CPA certification
5+ years related experience
Strong technical accounting knowledge in U.S. GAAP (revenue recognition, equity transactions, debt structures, leases, business combinations, SEC reporting)
IPO readiness or direct IPO experience highly desirable
Prior industry experience in technology and/or biotechnology preferred
Prior public accounting experience (Big 4 or large regional firms preferred)
Proven ability to manage client service, build relationships, and balance multiple engagements
Tech-savvy with interest in using new tools to optimize accounting processes
Experience integrating AI/tools into service delivery and internal processes
Familiarity with workflow automation solutions (e.g., Alteryx, Power Automate, UiPath) and collaboration platforms
Knowledge of IFRS standards
Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
6 years of related experience
3 years of supervisory experience
Must have and maintain required licenses
Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
Strong communication skills at all organizational levels
Proficient use of applicable technology
Ability to travel based on client and business needs
