Overview KPMG is currently seeking an Associate Director to join our Enterprise Contracting Center, State & Local Government Team.

Apply advanced knowledge of contract management to drive a service management-centric strategy for Enterprise Contracting Center (ECC) contracts team(s); develop contract negotiation strategy to mitigate business risks and ensure regulatory compliance; work autonomously, leading programs, projects, or initiatives, independently making decisions and identifying the more nuanced and complex situations that necessitate consultation with ECC senior leadership Act as end-to-end single point of contact throughout the contract management process, escalating to leadership when necessary; review client redlines and client terms for specific contracts by leveraging playbooks/guides, and when required, escalate clauses for review to SMEs, RM, Independence and OGC, ensuring SME input is incorporated into contract, and negotiate directly with client Manage contract portfolio by retaining executed contracts and support document and information gathering for quarterly business reviews, internal audits, and client claims; provide thoughtful analysis in real-time, demonstrating an ability to review matters with varied fact patterns of medium complexity and consistently apply guidance in providing advice or other solutions to professionals Regularly and effectively interface with partners and professionals and external clients regarding execution of responsibilities and to drive desired outcomes; apply good judgement about risk and growth to protect the organization by creating contracts from the agreed, standardized templates and clauses; conduct client discussions to reach agreement on key business/regulatory risks in real time and provide guidance on applicable terms for specific service offerings to align firm capabilities Manage Contract Lifecycle Management System (CLMS) to ensure firm achieves full value from contracts; analyze, summarize, present and proactively initiate ideas for process improvements and other innovations designed to create significant client value, process efficiencies, and/or enhanced quality; contribute to tactical plans and oversee progress with focus blended on execution of work product and tactical planning Provide active coaching, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing with junior staff to advance their career development; and manage and review those team members' work product; contribute to planning for short term needs, i.e., projects and processes; and may construct annual plan for deployment of those resources; provide people management responsibility for a small to mid-sized team of intermediate level contracts management professionals Qualifications
Minimum eight years of recent experience in contract management, procurement, or deal desk leading negotiation of complex contracts and overseeing a team of contract management professionals, preferably in the professional services industry in Federal, SLG or commercial contracting domain. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; master's degree or industry certifications from NCMA preferred Ability to identify risks and mitigations and to identify, analyze, and articulate improvement opportunities for contracting process based on understanding of contract lifecycle management, problematic contracting provisions, and market trends; comfortable working with data and ambiguity with the ability to balance attention to detail and operational tactics while engaging meaningfully on the big picture events and/or overall strategy Capability to manage complex programs and projects, applying expertise to make concrete decisions that impact the organization and the firm, as well as ability to establish credible relationships and become a trusted advisor to engagement teams and business leadership; understanding of and ability to advocate for leading contract lifecycle management practices, with an interest and acumen for understanding legal matters Excellent verbal and written communication, reading comprehension, and critical thinking skills to lead an environment driven by customer service and teamwork; able to work collaboratively as well as independently; exceptional presentation and negotiation skills Capable of setting goals and participate in strategic initiatives for a team; and foster the development of high-performance teams and interface with all levels of the organization; ability to participate in development of resource plans and structures and influence organizational priorities KPMG
