Responsibilities

Serve as the AD management point-of-contact for interpretation and resolution of safety and quality issues Lead the AD Field Safety Team Represent AD on complex-wide or institution-wide advisory and review committees related to safety and quality Develop, implement and maintain programs, systems and processes to ensure overall safety and health of AD employees, visitors, associated workers and the community Assess, develop and conduct employee and student training, emergency preparedness activities, and assurance or accreditation programs as necessary Maintain knowledge of consensus standards, government regulations and good practice requirements for accelerator operations Identify, assess and monitor workplace hazards and recommend improvements to minimize errors Investigate accidents, incidents, injuries and complaints concerning safety and quality Provide technical advice and interpretation of government regulations and university policies Proactively identify topics for AD leadership to improve operations; identify new risks and mitigation actions Assess, develop, and maintain emergency preparedness and disaster recovery activities Maintain a high level of communication with the DOE Site Office, DOE HQ, SLAC operations divisions, and the SLAC Director\'s Office on all ESH&Q aspects for AD Collaborate with SLAC ESH Division leadership and Contract Assurance leadership; participate in policy and process improvements To Be Successful In This Position You Will Bring

Bachelor\'s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline and ten years of relevant experience (advanced degree desirable) Experience conducting health and safety surveys, risk assessments, and data analyses; able to provide recommendations for exposure/risk control Experience managing a broad range of ESH programs and implementing effective solutions Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work with diverse, cross-functional teams Ability to function as a senior manager, with responsibility for developing and mentoring staff Ability to maintain knowledge of and interpret government requirements and university policies Knowledge of US Department of Energy orders and guidance is preferred Ability to lead professionally in an emergency/crisis situation Demonstrated ability to manage staff of diverse backgrounds Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and their impact on assigned work areas SLAC Manager Competencies

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as scope and responsibilities, qualifications, departmental budget, internal equity, geography, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
