In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development. One of the many reasons Google consistently brings innovative, world-changing products to market is because of the collaborative work we do in Product Management. Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We are responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users. The YouTube Recommendations team is at the forefront of improving the user experience, with our systems driving 70% of time spent on YouTube. Our goal is to continuously enhance personalization, which is the leading driver of user engagement, by leveraging machine learning and AI. Initially, improvements in recommendations have been the top driver of YouTube's growth. We strive to make the recommendation system bigger, faster, and more well-rounded to solve key user problems and responsibly grow viewership and satisfaction by leveraging the latest advancements in AI. Responsibilities
Lead initiatives to integrate state-of-the-art Generative AI into our large-scale machine learning models. This could include leveraging Gemini to create multi-modal content annotations or to capture the subtleties of user preferences to help users explore new interests. Guide our activation initiative, a key effort to help users form lasting interests on YouTube. You will develop models that use a deep understanding of users to intelligently spark new interests and encourage re-engagement with novel topics and creators. Contribute to the evolution of our massive-scale recommendation models. This could include adapting the latest research in transformer-based architectures, sequential rankers, long-term user memory, and optimizing for complex, multi-objective reward systems. Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 5 years of experience in product management or a related technical role. 5 years of experience with SQL or a similar query language. 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch. Experience in machine learning, AI, or recommendation systems. Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in a Technology or Business related field. 3 years of experience in a business function or role (e.g., strategic marketing, business operations, consulting). 3 years of experience in a role preparing and delivering technical presentations to executive leadership. 2 years of experience in software development or engineering. 2 years of experience working cross-functionally with engineering, UX/UI, sales, finance, and other stakeholders. Ability to present to leadership using good storytelling from a user-focused perspective, with excellent communication skills. Compensation The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
