Nonunion SALARY RANGE : $15+ (hourly) This position provides an opportunity for an individual to interact and learn alongside skilled staff in the Parks and Forestry Divisions doing general maintenance activities throughout city parks. This position often involves physically demanding work in adverse weather conditions for prolonged periods of time. Opportunities for overtime and flexible schedules! Must be 17+ years old and possess a valid, non-probationary WI driver's license.

This position will stay open until filled. Essential Job Functions

Assist with general landscape maintenance including weeding, planting, spreading mulch, pruning, mowing, and watering throughout city parks, buildings, and properties. Assist in the parks maintenance staff with tasks such as (but not limited to) cleaning shelters and restrooms, maintaining athletic fields and courts, pool facility maintenance, and assisting with special events. Cleans and disinfects restrooms, sanitize toilets, sinks and drinking fountains, restock restroom supplies as needed, collecting trash in city parks and shelters. Assist with light duty maintenance tasks such as painting, sweeping, playground equipment repair, cleaning and small parks projects. Provide staffing support and assist with city and park events (e.g. concerts in the park, various summer events, etc.) May assist with tree trimming, tree removal, and brush chipping May assist with woody and herbaceous invasive species management Dependent upon interest and skillset, there will be opportunities to help staff with various parks, forestry, and/or recreation projects if interested! Requirements of Work

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES:

Knowledge of materials, methods, techniques and equipment used in landscaping/ grounds maintenance is preferred. Will train! Knowledge of operation, safety and efficient use of maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles is preferred. Will Train! Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions Ability to work holidays and weekends (on rotation), flexible shifts and hours! Must be 17+ years of age and possess a valid non-probationary Wisconsin driver's license. WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees in this position must be able to lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds frequently. In addition, they must be able to frequently bend, twist, squat, climb, stand, and reach for extended periods of time while performing tasks (e.g. brush collection). Employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions during summer months. Occasional exposure to construction site conditions including noise levels and other hazards. Must be able to move over uneven, rough terrain while operating push mower, weed whacker, and other equipment. Must be able to sustain prolonged and repetitive squatting, bending and stooping while performing tasks, such as brush collection. Must be able to stand (or sit) for extended periods of time.
