SALARY AND BENEFITS Salary: $22.79 - $29.97/hour commensurate with experience and qualifications Benefits:
Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance with five different plans, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, voluntary insurance options, and a supplemental life program. Employees are entitled to sick time, vacation time, bereavement days, holidays, and longevity pay. Flexible spending accounts (FSA) or healthcare savings accounts (HSA) are available based on the elected medical plan. Additionally, retirement savings plans are provided through the State of Michigan Office of Retirement Services (ORS). These benefits are available after just one full day of employment.

ROLE AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for the performance of a variety of assigned tasks and special projects to support the goals and objectives of the Human Resources Department. Maintains the integrity of confidential employee information including, but not limited to demographic data, social security numbers, immigration paperwork, salaries, criminal history records, evaluations, corrective action documentation and results of pre-employment tests. May serve as system administrator for applicant tracking system. Schedules and organizes employee orientation. Provides excellent customer service to all individuals and organizations in the performance of job duties.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for the performance of a variety of assigned tasks and special projects to support the goals and objectives of the Human Resources Department. Maintains the integrity of confidential employee information including, but not limited to demographic data, social security numbers, salaries, criminal history records, evaluations, corrective action documentation and results of skills and personality assessments. Completes business/accounting tasks related to the assigned areas of responsibility. This may include maintaining department payroll and attendance records in accordance with district standards identified in the Payroll Procedures Manual. Maintains a filing system and files documents and materials in accordance with the standardized filing system in the assigned area of responsibility. Prepares reports, correspondence, and documents in accordance with district standards. Develops drafts of reports and correspondence for review and approval of the Executive Director of Human Resources or other staff in the assigned area of responsibility. Sorts, processes, and delivers incoming mail. Utilizes meeting scheduling software in the assigned area of responsibility and makes appropriate preparations for meetings. Maintains confidential program data and results. Provides excellent customer service to all individuals and organizations in the performance of job duties. Resolves problems in a diplomatic and professional manner. Cross-trains with designated staff and becomes familiar with all aspects of assigned areas of responsibility. Maintains a working knowledge of all areas of operation within the Human Resources Department. Maintains confidential information, files, and accurate records for departmental administrators. Assists in coordinating the day-to-day work schedule of the Executive Director of Human Resources, schedules meetings, and facilitates communication between the Executive Director of Human Resources and district staff. Consistently models Win-Win leadership.
Other Duties:
Performs other related duties as assigned. Responsible for providing information and assisting as necessary in the pre-registration for the Flint Registry.
QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Coursework in human resources desirable.
Experience: Minimum three years successful business office experience required. Experience in an educational agency desirable. Experience in human resources desirable.
Skills/Other: Excellent customer service skills. Ability to pass proficiency testing and maintain proficiency at the advanced level in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, business math, spelling and typing (45wpm) required. Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Ability to solve problems utilizing the District's Win-Win process, to work independently, to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate effective time management skills. Excellent oral, written, electronic and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position and the ability to travel to and from district buildings/programs. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times. Ability to work flexible work hours, work days and work year. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to maintain a calm, poised and professional image at all times. Discretion with confidential information. Ability to plan work efficiently, work well with others, exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies, master agreement provisions and established administrative guidelines.
