We have a software team that builds tools to help run YC and to provide founders with an unfair advantage through our founder network, expert advice from YC General Partners, exclusive funding opportunities, and more. About The Role While the software team itself is very small (~15 people), the impact of our software for our founders and for YC is large. Some examples of the software you’d work on include: YC’s application software: Each batch we review over 20K applicants, manage interviews with thousands of founders, and select just over 100 companies — all within 3 weeks. We write tools to help partners manage the process and make decisions, and we continuously improve the software. Founder fundraising software: Tools to help founders raise a seed round, including a leads pipeline from Demo Day, legal tools to execute YC safes, and an all-in-one CRM for investor relations. Investment software: Managing YC’s fund (over $6B) end-to-end—how to invest, track allocations, and AI-driven updates to keep records aligned with founder needs. Hiring platform: A job marketplace with over 2M job seekers and AI-assisted recruiting tools to help founders hire faster. We’re excited to share more in person and encourage you to apply. Team and Stack Our stack is Rails, React, and Postgres. We value front-end development as a key driver of success, and engineers often ship across teams. Our teammates come from startups and big tech (e.g., Meta, Google). We empower product engineers to talk to customers, ship quickly, and define our own roadmap. Our software team’s work emphasizes AI to improve how we operate for startups and founders. Location This is an in-person role at YC’s campus in Dogpatch, San Francisco. You must live in the SF Bay Area or be willing to relocate. We offer generous relocation support for those moving to SF to work here. Compensation and Benefits
Compensation:
$180,000 to $270,000 base (depending on skills and experience) plus bonus. Benefits:
YC profit-sharing (comparable to equity in an early-stage startup), medical/vision/dental plans, infertility benefit, STD/LTD, life insurance, commuter benefits, flexible spending account, health savings account, 401(k) + 4% matching, parental leave, paid holidays, and flexible paid time off.
