Overview The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for transforming complex datasets into actionable insights that inform policy, strategy, and program decisions and will work closely with program staff and stakeholders to ensure accurate, meaningful, and accessible use of data in support of Veteran suicide prevention. The Data Analyst, Sr. will obtain data through advanced computerized models, extrapolate data patterns through advanced algorithms, and develop simple graphs and charts to explain how the information will influence or improve program outcomes.

Collect, clean, validate, and analyze program and policy-related data to assess the impact and effectiveness of suicide prevention initiatives Maintain and update the NSSP Dashboard and MIRECC SharePoint tracking database Conduct advanced statistical analysis and modeling to identify trends, risk factors, and areas for program improvement Translate technical findings into clear and concise reports, presentations, and data briefs for senior leaders and non-technical audiences Collaborate with program staff, analysts, and subject matter experts to integrate data into strategic planning and performance monitoring Support evaluation of suicide prevention activities and initiatives through data-driven methods Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with VA and federal data governance policies Provide technical guidance on data collection methods, metrics development, and performance measurement frameworks Respond timely to ad hoc data requests and provide analysis for senior leaders and stakeholders Contribute to the development of data standards, processes, and best practices Ensure compliance with VHA and federal policies, reporting standards, and contract requirements Qualifications
Strong proficiency in statistical and data tools such as SQL, Python, SAS Knowledge of VHA Systems and files such as CDW, VistA, VSSC, RAMP, PTF, MedSAS, PCMM, NPCD, VETSNET Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) Demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable insights for decision-making Familiarity with healthcare, public health, or behavioral health datasets, strongly preferred Strong communication skills with ability to present complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences Experience supporting federal health programs, VA/VHA operations, or suicide prevention initiatives, a plus Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience with NSSP Dashboard and MIRECC SharePoint, preferred Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and security practices within federal environments, desired Ability to obtain a public trust clearance Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in data science, statistics, public health, computer science, or related field (required) Minimum of 8 years of experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, or performance measurement, preferably within federal or public health programs Benefits
