Project Manager
The project manager is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing projects. They lead cross functional teams to implement new technology and services or change and modify existing ones. Duties/Responsibilities
Manages University System IT projects that are moderate in scope. Applies best practices in project management, such as those in the PMBOK Guide, to assure outcomes that fulfill project goals within scope, schedule, cost and quality parameters. Partners with project sponsor to define projects objectives, scope, schedule and budget. Also partners with various internal and external departments to ensure effective teamwork in the planning, development, operation and support of assigned projects. Establishes project charter and plan, including success criteria. Establishes and coordinates project team. Leads project meetings and manages team members to ensure objectives are achieved within prescribed timeframe and budget. Working with resource managers and project team estimate resource requirements, develop project plans and scheduling for projects. Assesses project risks and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality and client-satisfaction levels. Tracks and reports project progress with respect to baselined time, budget and target vs. actual business results. Communicates and provides project progress reports for executive project sponsors. Manages appropriate change control procedures and processes. Maintains technical/functional documentation for accuracy and clarity. Implements effective communication strategies to meet the needs of project stakeholders. Manages vendor relations and assures contractual fulfillment as required. Perform continual process improvement. Identify process gaps and inefficiencies within the Project Management Office, then create and implement solutions to improve or remediate process gaps. Provide project management training and mentoring to Non-Project Management professionals. Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Project Management, IT or related field or five years of related project management experience. Strong background in different aspects of technology including hardware and software infrastructure and integration. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in higher education or public service organizations.
