Job Description

Chairside Dental Assistant

The mission of the Student Health Center (SHC) is to create the best possible experience for every patient in a Christ-centered environment. In addition, the goal of the MTC Clinic is to provide compassionate, Christ-Centered healthcare that equips missionaries by restoring physical health and well-being, preparing each missionary to enter the mission field whole, strengthened, and ready to serve. As a member of the SHC team, the Dental Assistant will carry out this mission by providing essential support to the dental provider and ensuring efficient, high-quality care for all patients.

What you'll do in this position:

Assisting Duties Responds promptly, professionally, and courteously to patient needs Prepares office for daily operations: powers on computers, stocks materials, ensures treatment areas are ready Welcomes patients and prepares them for dental treatment Prepares dental instruments and supplies for each specific procedure Provides chairside assistance to the dentist during patient treatment Sterilizes instruments according to protocol Cleans and sanitizes treatment areas between each patient Updates and maintains patient records (paper and digital), including treatment notes and procedure logs Conducts end-of-day cleaning and maintenance of all dental areas and equipment Office Duties

Organizes and tracks dental supply inventory; communicates restocking needs Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of dental equipment to ensure safe operation Produces, organizes, and maintains dental treatment records accurately and consistently (paper and online) Initiates consent forms and verifies accuracy before procedures Generates daily and monthly production reports Coordinates schedules, treatment planning, and procedural needs with other MTC health clinic staff What qualifies you for this role:

Required:

A firm commitment to the mission of BYU. Dental Assistant Certification or completion of an accredited dental assistant program Strong communication, organizational, and patient service skills Basic computer skills Proficient with or willing to learn electronic health records (HER) systems, Excel and Dentrix Preferred:

1-3 years of experience in a dental or medical office What we offer in return:

Typical Starting Pay:

$18.50 to $23.25 an hour
