We are seeking a skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist with a strong background in ophthalmic surgery to join our dynamic surgical team. The ideal candidate will assist in a variety of ophthalmology procedures, ensuring high standards of sterile technique, patient safety, and operating room efficiency. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms for ophthalmic surgical procedures, including setting up sterile instruments and equipment. Assist ophthalmic surgeons during procedures such as cataract extraction, glaucoma surgery, vitrectomy, corneal transplants, and other ocular procedures. Maintain a sterile field and anticipate the surgeon's needs during procedures. Handle surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently and accurately. Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of ophthalmic surgical instruments. Monitor and maintain inventory of surgical supplies and instruments. Assist with preoperative and postoperative patient care tasks as needed. Adhere to all infection control, safety, and HIPAA policies and regulations. Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and other OR personnel to ensure smooth workflow.
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program. Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a surgical tech, with at least 1 year in ophthalmic surgery. Strong knowledge of ophthalmic surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile techniques. Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in high-volume ophthalmic surgical settings (e.g., ambulatory surgery centers or specialized eye clinics). Familiarity with phacoemulsification machines and ophthalmic-specific surgical tools.
Work Environment
Fast-paced operating room environment. Requires standing for extended periods. Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and surgical chemicals.
