Position Summary
Odyssey is partnering with a local Plano-based firm to hire a Senior Network Security Engineer with deep expertise in Cisco-based security technologies. This role involves the design, implementation, and ongoing support of advanced network security solutions for enterprise clients. The position is onsite in Plano, TX (100% onsite). The ideal candidate thrives in customer-facing environments, has strong project delivery experience, and stays ahead of evolving cybersecurity threats. Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation & Architecture
Design and deploy enterprise-grade Cisco security solutions (including secure firewalls, orchestration platforms, MFA tools, and breach defense technologies). Lead customer engagements from planning through implementation, including kickoff meetings and technical reviews. Develop detailed architectural documentation and implementation plans. Oversee migrations from legacy systems to updated Cisco security infrastructure. Configure policies, interfaces, and advanced features within Cisco security environments. Perform solution testing, validation, and provide post-implementation knowledge transfer. Operational Support & Optimization
Travel to client sites for implementation projects (approximately 20%). Continuous Learning & Collaboration
Stay informed on the latest Cisco security advancements and industry trends. Maintain and renew relevant certifications. Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in network security engineering with a strong Cisco focus Certifications Required:
CCNP Security Cisco Certified Specialist – Security Core Plus at least one of the following:
Cisco Certified Specialist – Firewall Cisco Certified Specialist – Identity Management
Expert-level knowledge of Cisco Secure Firewall platforms and Threat Defense Proficiency with Cisco Defense Orchestrator Hands-on experience with Cisco Duo and multi-factor authentication solutions Familiarity with Cisco’s Breach Protection Security Suite Advanced networking knowledge: routing, switching, VPN, NAT Proficient in packet analysis and troubleshooting tools CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) preferred
