Overview
Staff Architect II, TSG Solutions Architecture at Bain & Company. This role provides ownership of the technical architecture and technology aspects for multiple enterprise software products/platforms, supporting specific business capabilities. It involves technical leadership throughout all phases of the product/platform lifecycle and collaboration with product teams, development teams, and business/technical leadership. The role also includes active participation in licensing and cost discussions in coordination with business and TSG leadership.
What you’ll do
- Technology Strategy and Alignment: align initiatives with business vision, evaluate vendors, and present recommendations emphasizing unique aspects for the business.
- Project Management and Coordination: lead 3rd party software product/platform implementations, coordinate teams, and manage engagements for timely resolutions.
- Security and Risk Management: assess and bridge security risks between applications, data, and project teams.
- Data Integration and Documentation: support data integrations, exports, and document procedures for exchange and configurations.
- Technical Guidance and Collaboration: define integration methodologies, guide 3rd party teams on Bain systems, and provide testing guidance.
- AI/ ML Integration: assess AI features in vendor platforms for business and technical fit, support integration of AI/ML services, and ensure data privacy and security standards compliance.
- Platform Lifecycle Management: review and plan platform upgrades, maintenance, and replacements; share roadmaps.
- Collaborative Platform Utilization: expand platform use, assess viability, establish ownership and support structures.
- Technology Innovation and Skill Development: stay informed on new platform capabilities, recommend solutions, and invest in skills.
- Research and Evaluation of Emerging Technologies: lead research on emerging technologies and evaluate relevance to product roadmaps.
- Software Team Collaboration: contribute to the software team’s technology vision, strategy, and roadmap.
About you
Education
- Associate/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience
- 10 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive experience in detailed design and implementation of web-based applications and in designing Micro Services/DDD-based architectures using open-source technologies.
- Strong understanding of OOP concepts, design patterns, SOLID principles, and hands-on experience in defining architecture blueprints.
- Significant experience with product-based development, defining non-functional requirements, and working on cloud platforms (preferably Azure) with hands-on experience.
- Experience in providing technical leadership in business systems implementations, with familiarity in implementing mobile solutions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of software architecture principles.
- Familiarity with modern SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scaled Agile, Scrum/Kanban) and tools for collaboration, release management, incident tracking and monitoring software.
- Experience with designing and implementing software on IaaS and PaaS cloud solutions across Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Knowledge of applications/software/data, and cybersecurity; databases, analytics platforms, system integration, APIs, and search platforms.
- Strong communication skills to listen, articulate issues clearly, and present effectively at all organizational levels.
- Understanding of Advanced Analytics and visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.).
- Understanding of Data Governance best practices.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, architectures and platforms (e.g., Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, OpenAI).
- Experience evaluating AI-enabled SaaS capabilities (e.g., intelligent automation, NLP, generative AI).
- Understanding of AI governance, bias mitigation, and responsible AI practices.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Compensation & Benefits
U.S. compensation information: base salary plus annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with employer contribution, and Bain’s benefits package. Local ranges vary by geography and experience; Illinois and Massachusetts examples are provided in the original description. The role may include eligibility for other discretionary compensation components and a fully vested 401(k) company contribution.
