Digital Communications & Marketing Manager

The Redford Center is seeking a creative, digital-savvy Digital Marketing & Communications Manager to drive storytelling and audience engagement at the intersection of film, environmental justice, and social impact. This role thrives in a mission-driven space, loves testing new ideas, and aims to build authentic online communities while amplifying independent film and environmental advocacy. This is a full-time, exempt position based in San Francisco (Presidio), CA, with hybrid work options.

Job Type: Full Time, Exempt

Compensation: $102,000-$108,000 DOE

Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am – 5pm

Location: San Francisco (Presidio), CA Hybrid

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute The Redford Center’s social media strategy, content creation, scheduling, engagement, and analytics across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and more).
  • Develop campaigns and foster authentic audience relationships to drive community engagement in collaboration with the Communications Director.
  • Act as a key liaison across departments to ensure messaging consistency and clarity; support editorial planning, campaign tracking, and digital asset management.
  • Plan, write, design, and distribute all email communications (newsletters, program updates, fundraising appeals); manage list segmentation and optimize campaigns in partnership with Development and Programs teams.
  • Oversee updates and improvements to the WordPress website; ensure content is current, accessible, and SEO-optimized; coordinate with external partners for larger projects.
  • Produce high-quality digital content using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and video editing tools; collaborate with freelancers on special projects and create assets like pitch decks and one-pagers.
  • Support integrated marketing campaigns blending organic social, email, paid media, partnerships, and events; monitor performance metrics and prepare data-informed reports (Tableau experience a bonus).
  • Contribute to a collaborative, creative team culture; manage contractors, support event promotions and content capture, and promote a culture of testing and learning from data.

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of hands-on experience in digital communications, content strategy, or digital marketing; ideally in a mission-driven or nonprofit setting.
  • Proven experience creating and managing social media campaigns with measurable results.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Fluent with social platforms and tools (Instagram, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, YouTube Studio); experience with Mailchimp or similar, WordPress or other CMS, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), basic video editing, Google Analytics, UTM tracking, and link management tools (Bitly, etc.).
  • Bonus: Tableau, SEO tools, or accessibility best practices.

All Candidates Must

  • Work legally in the United States and maintain proper work authorization.
  • Currently live in the California Bay Area.
  • Be able to assist with events, including lifting up to 35 lbs.
  • Work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to pass a background check for all contingent offers.
