Vaulted Deep is seeking a Head of Regulatory and External Affairs based in Houston, TX , with options for San Francisco, CA or Remote . This is a full-time position .
The Head of Regulatory and External Affairs will lead Vaulted's regulatory, government affairs, and community engagement efforts, ensuring the organization has the necessary permits, policies, and community support to operate and expand.

Vaulted is a waste management company focused on carbon removal. We safely inject organic waste deep underground to permanently remove carbon from the atmosphere, protecting local land, air, and water. With offices in Houston, San Francisco, and Kansas, and a team of over 70 employees nationwide, Vaulted has signed significant agreements, including with Microsoft, and is rapidly expanding with proprietary technology built on decades of expertise.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with regulators, including federal and state EPA officials.
- Represent Vaulted in policy advocacy, lobbying, and public relations efforts.
- Oversee community engagement activities at existing and new sites.
- Manage relationships with government officials, legislators, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with all laws, regulations, and reporting requirements related to organic waste injection projects.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their impact.
- Develop strategic plans for navigating the regulatory landscape.
- Communicate Vaulted's positions effectively to stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate regulatory and reputational risks.
- Lead and grow the External Affairs team to align with company growth objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Regulatory Affairs, Law, or related fields.
- 10+ years of experience in government relations, regulatory compliance, or related areas, preferably with site development and community engagement experience.
- Deep understanding of legislative and administrative processes and land use regulations.
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Exceptional relationship-building abilities with internal and external stakeholders.
- Passion for sustainability and climate change mitigation; knowledge of carbon removal is a plus.
