Overview
The Benefits & Wellness Senior Manager/Director leads the strategic design, implementation, communication, and administration of employee benefits programs to support talent acquisition, retention, and employee well-being. This role oversees health, welfare, wellness, retirement, and leave programs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. As a key advisor, this position informs data-driven decisions to keep programs competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with Andersen’s goals and values. This role reports to the Director of Total Rewards.
Responsibilities
- Program Administration
- Lead administration and annual renewal of medical, dental, vision, life, disability, wellness, and retirement plans
- Manage vendor relationships, performance, and negotiations to ensure optimal service and cost efficiency
- Oversee benefits communications, education campaigns, and open enrollment initiatives
- Significantly oversee day-to-day administration of our 401(k) plan, including employee enrollments, contribution processing, loans, distributions, and compliance testing
- Manage wellness platform administration, program logistics, communication and employee engagement strategies, including coordination of wellness challenges, educational workshops or incentive programs
- Oversee leave administration and provide guidance and training to others on leave-related matters, including return-to-work processes and accommodations under ADA
- Partner with insurance carriers and internal teams to coordinate leave logistics and ensure accurate benefits continuation
- Manage online, points-based recognition program, promoting the program through communication channels and managing usage through reporting
- Deliver training and ongoing support to benefits team members and Local HR to ensure consistency and compliance
Data & Analytics
- Evaluate industry trends, benchmarks, and emerging practices to ensure competitive offerings
- Monitor plan performance and utilization; provide insights and recommendations to control costs
- Understand and manage benefit program budgets and financials, including forecasting, cost modeling, and identifying opportunities for cost savings or value enhancement
- Prepare and present regular dashboards and executive summaries on benefit trends and impact
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, IRS, DOL, and other regulatory bodies
- Lead audits, reporting (5500s, nondiscrimination testing, etc.) and plan documentation, partnering with internal teams and external vendors, as needed
- Responsible for updating Employee Handbook for all employee benefits related policies and procedures
Compensation and Benefits
Our firm offers competitive base compensation, benefits package, and a discretionary employee bonus program for eligible employees based on individual and firm performance metrics per the defined program guidelines. For individuals hired, the expected salary range for this role is $150,000 to $250,000; the actual salary offer can vary based upon employee qualifications.
Benefits: Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees may enroll in the firm’s 401(k) plan upon hire. Compensation: In addition to competitive base compensation, the firm offers annual discretionary bonuses based on firm and individual performance and other forms of discretionary compensation that would be offered to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in employee benefits, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, or similar professional designation required
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-state benefits programs, including managing fully insured and self-funded medical plans, 401(k) plans, and wellness initiatives
- Deep understanding of U.S. benefits regulations and compliance requirements (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, IRS, DOL, etc.)
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage benefit program budgets, perform forecasting and cost modeling
- Familiarity with M&A benefit integration and global benefit plans
- Proficiency with benefits systems and tools, such as UKG, or other HRIS platforms
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret benefits data and make strategic recommendations
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- High degree of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
