General Manager

Overview

General Manager role at Bon Appétit Management Company. Reports To: District Manager. Salary: $75,000 to $85,000. Our passion is food and outstanding service. We operate in contract food service and encourage creativity, initiative, and growth within a supportive management team.

As a General Manager you will be directly responsible for the overall operation and cost-effective management of multiple dining service departments in more than one facility within a given geography. You will maintain excellent relationships with employees, guests, the client, and other departments, while promoting the professional growth and development of the entire team. You will foster strong interdepartmental relations and integrate the dining service department with the facility plan of operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Be well versed in all aspects of foodservice management with a proven track record of success
• Own the operation and ensure it meets all timelines for service and other timelines established by management and/or client
• Manage all financials including planning, budget development and analysis, and financial reporting
• Interact professionally with a diverse group of associates, peers, managers, suppliers, clients and customers
• Demonstrate initiative and good judgment in assisting customers, clients, peers and subordinates
• Conduct management meetings
• Think quickly and evaluate problems to make appropriate recommendations
• Audit units for conformance with Company, government and accrediting agency standards, regulations, and codes
• Hire, train and orientate new management associates

Preferred Qualifications

• Must be willing to relocate and travel if necessary
• B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or A.A. Degree plus five to seven years of related experience preferred
• Minimum of five years of retail operational foodservice management experience preferred
• Knowledge of food and catering trends focused on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, marketing and presentation
• P&L accountability and contract-managed service experience desirable
• Multi-unit Management Experience Preferred
• Experience with cash retail operations
• Retail marketing experience desirable
• Supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills; good written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of financial, budgetary, accounting practices; proficient with Microsoft Office and general computer skills
• Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification desirable
