Overview
Senior Director of Software Engineering at Bracco Medical Technologies (BMT). This strategic leadership role is a key member of Global Research and Product Development, leading all aspects of product software development and driving growth through a global software development team. You will develop and manage robust development processes and standards to minimize time to market while meeting cost and quality expectations in the medical device industry.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with the Product Development Team to assess, define and drive new product development strategy.
- Guide and shape the multi-year product roadmap to ensure new products deliver tangible and measurable value to customers.
- Recruit, hire, develop and manage Product Software Development leaders to accomplish business goals and empower employee success.
- Lead and provide strategic direction to a highly functional team responsible for the development of BMT medical device software and integration into products.
- Develop and leverage partnerships with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory to achieve business results.
- Communicate corporate objectives, goals, directives and policies to the Product Software Development team, creating a clear vision and a positive, team-oriented environment.
- Identify, champion, and develop innovative technologies that add value to BMT products.
- Collaborate with the product development team to transition and integrate technology from research to product development processes.
- Ensure resources are aligned to achieve project milestones and corporate initiatives in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide technical engineering leadership and mentoring to ensure new product development projects remain on schedule, within budgets, meet performance criteria, and conform to design control and FDA/ISO compliance.
- Ensure rigorous documentation for all phases of development, including design specifications, verification/validation test plans, and project schedules.
- Engage with and influence the business to select critical strategic vendors and work with contract engineering services to promote efficient development and design transfer into production.
- Create and manage robust project and departmental budgets to support product development activities.
- Model behaviors that foster an innovative and collaborative culture within the product development team.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- 10+ years of technical product development experience
- 7+ years’ experience directly managing engineers or technical teams
- 5+ years’ experience in the medical device or highly regulated industry
- Track record in hiring, developing and retaining top technical talent
- Proven ability to lead, coach, develop and motivate a technical team to deliver results
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with clear communication
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across disciplines
- Innovative thinker with a big-picture perspective and strong business acumen
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for global product registration
- Experience with project and portfolio management systems and processes
- Experience implementing Agile product development in the medical device industry
- Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills
Preferred
- Graduate degree in engineering, science or business
- Publications or patents in relevant fields
- Technical expertise in diagnostic imaging and/or the catheterization lab
- Technical expertise in healthcare informatics
- Understanding of hospital networks and product security standards in healthcare

- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Compensation & Total Rewards
Estimated Starting Salary Range: $250,000.00 - $280,000.00
Estimated starting salary reflects Bracco Medical Technologies’ pay range and market data.
