Overview
The Head of Cloud Governance is a leadership role responsible for establishing and overseeing the framework that ensures an organization's cloud computing environment aligns with its business objectives, regulatory requirements, and best practices. The objective is to maintain a stable and secure cloud infrastructure through oversight and engagement with IT customers, IT groups, and third-party Cloud Service Providers. A professional with advanced knowledge of installation, configuration, and management of the company's IT infrastructure and related systems is necessary to achieve these goals.
Who You’ll Work With
The Information Technology organization is the technological foundation of our business and works in collaboration with our partners from across the company. The team drives technology and digital transformation, partners with business leaders to design and execute new strategies through IT and operations services and ensures IT risk management and security measures are in place and aligned with enterprise architecture standards and principles.
Responsibilities
- Strategy and Framework Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive cloud governance strategy aligned with IT and business goals.
- Establish cloud governance policies, standards, and guidelines for architecture, deployment, security, and operations.
- Define roles, responsibilities, and accountability for cloud resources and activities.
- Policy Implementation and Enforcement
- Lead the implementation of governance policies across multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Monitor compliance with cloud policies and regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Develop and enforce policies related to cloud service usage, access control, and data management.
- Risk Management and Security
- Identify, assess, and manage risks related to cloud services, including data security and third-party risk.
- Work with security, legal, and risk teams to ensure data protection and risk mitigation in cloud environments.
- Establish processes for incident response and recovery for cloud operations.
- Cost Optimization and FinOps
- Develop and implement cloud cost management and optimization strategies.
- Establish and enforce cost control measures and monitor cloud spending.
- Implement FinOps practices across all cloud environments.
- Compliance and Regulatory Adherence
- Ensure cloud services meet relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS) and internal requirements.
- Manage audits and assessments related to cloud governance and compliance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with IT, security, legal, finance, and business teams to support business objectives while maintaining security and compliance.
- Advise senior leadership on cloud governance matters and communicate compliance status, risks, and improvements.
- Effectively communicate cloud governance policies across the organization.
- Continuous Improvement
- Monitor the performance of the cloud governance program and compliance efforts.
- Continuously improve governance processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay updated on trends, technologies, and regulations in cloud computing.
- Develop and maintain Cloud Services architecture and provide input on decisions about new cloud equipment and upgrades.
- Develop and track budgets for new and existing Cloud Infrastructure.
- Manage and report on the availability of Cloud Services to meet SLAs.
- Develop and monitor metrics to improve cloud availability and performance.
- Lead incident resolution, participate in troubleshooting, and deliver post-mortems for cloud-related incidents.
- Develop standards for Cloud Services.
- Support and maintain scalable backup solutions for virtualized and standalone cloud environments.
Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline required; Master's preferred.
- IT architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF) a plus.
- Cloud solutions architect certification a plus.
- 7+ years in information technology with at least 3+ years in an IT architectural role.
- 5+ years of application/solution development experience.
- 3+ years of experience designing and maintaining Cloud Services technologies (Azure, AWS, etc.).
- Experience designing, assessing, implementing, and maintaining Cloud Services and Cloud Infrastructure Services; monitoring performance of cloud providers.
- Experience defining Cloud Information Architecture and Governance.
- Experience with Active Directory (on-premises and in Azure).
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong knowledge of cloud governance frameworks, security principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
- Strong risk management, analytical, and financial acumen for cost management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and influencing skills.
- Leadership experience managing teams.
- Understanding of IT Service Management concepts (ITIL) and related processes.
- Ability to translate technology terms into business terms; strong business acumen.
- Experience in systems performance monitoring and problem resolution.
- Experience developing and implementing cloud infrastructure design and security practices.
- Project management skills.
- Flexible with schedule to meet business needs.
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position is $135,000 to $185,000 at the commencement of employment. The actual offer depends on location, skills, experience, and other qualifications. The position is eligible for a discretionary bonus under the applicable incentive plan.
Work Location
This position is based in Corebridge Financial’s Jersey City, NJ or Houston, TX office and follows a hybrid in-office/remote policy.
Estimated Travel
May include up to 25% of time.
