Overview
HII Mission Technologies Warfare Systems (WS) seeks a Senior Research Engineer/Scientist for the Collaborative Operations for Battlespace Resilient Architecture (COBRA) initiative. This role resides with WS, a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT, electronic warfare, and C5ISR systems. This position is part of a pending contract proposal; we are actively interviewing to identify qualified candidates in anticipation of a successful award. Location: San Diego, CA. Security clearance: TS/SCI. Senior-level experience required.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Develops and researches new concepts, processes, or technology. Collects relevant information and data, analyzes it, performs tests, and creates optimal solutions that meet the needs of the mission.
- Works with emerging technologies to deploy to new and existing systems.
- Participates in full research and development lifecycle.
- Collaborates with Weapon Systems Engineers to develop and maintain weapon systems (e.g., Minuteman III).
- Conducts research and writing support on various topics within the scientific and technology community in support of warfighting objectives (Del. 17).
Minimum Qualifications
- 10 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Master’s in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
- Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance.
- Ability to analyze system requirements and develop engineering specifications.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering lifecycle phases.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical documentation.
Preferred Requirements
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools like MagicDraw or Cameo.
- Prior experience working with military or aerospace platforms.
- Master’s degree in a technical discipline is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment.
- Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
