The Vice President of Human Resources for Manufacturing will report to the CHRO and is responsible and accountable for serving as a key strategic partner and leader, overseeing all HR functions across our large U.S. manufacturing facilities. This individual will be a culture champion and operational expert, driving human resources initiatives that support and align with Ashley's Core & Growth Values. The VP will lead a team of HR professionals at our facilities to ensure the effective execution of HR strategies, including employee relations, performance management, and talent development with the goal of fostering a safe, engaged, and highly productive workforce while upholding Ashley's commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

- Actively promote and embed Ashley's Core & Growth Values into all HR practices and employee interactions. Serve as a leader who models these values daily.
- Ensure integration of Core & Growth Values into recruitment, orientation, on- boarding, performance management, employee relations, and succession planning processes across all manufacturing facilities.
Develop & Execute HR Strategy
- Work in partnership with the Manufacturing executive leadership to understand all facets of the business, to create and build the HR plan and talent that can best support their business objectives, emphasizing continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Provide leadership and thought partnership to the manufacturing plant leaders, helping to develop their human capital plans in line with the business strategy.
- Anticipate and interpret market change, envision the future, and decide strategic people priorities for manufacturing operations.
- Conduct workforce analyses to identify current and future skills needs, aligning HR initiatives with strategic manufacturing business goals.
Talent Management & Development
- In partnership with HR's Talent Management & Organizational Effectiveness team, lead organizational design efforts to optimize structure and roles for efficiency across manufacturing facilities.
- Implement a performance management system that promotes a culture of accountability and continuous feedback through coaching, mentoring, and performance reviews.
- Coach and mentor leaders to enhance their leadership capabilities. Design and implement succession planning processes to ensure critical manufacturing roles are adequately staffed and talent identified for future needs.
Employee Relations
- Foster engagement and culture through actively promoting safe, inclusive, and a high performing workplace across all manufacturing sites.
- Reduce turnover and increase retention through programs designed to upskill the workforce that are aligned to Ashley's Core & Growth Values.
- Develop positive employee relations strategies to maintain high engagement and address employee concerns proactively.
- Partner with plant leadership to create communication strategies that promote transparency and trust.
Operational Efficiency and Compliance
- Work directly with Manufacturing business leaders to enhance operational excellence through improved processes and HR service delivery.
- Drive execution and continuously improve the core people processes across all manufacturing facilities. Provide communication strategy and change management to help employees fully understand and appreciate strategic and operational changes.
- Audit, maintain, and ensure compliance in people processes (for example, timekeeping, safety protocols, employment law).
Additional Responsibilities:
- Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc. for manufacturing operations.
- Coordinate and manage the work of HR teams by directing members across manufacturing sites to meet operational goals.
- Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities specific to manufacturing operations. Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate across all sites.
- Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods and materials across manufacturing HR operations.
- Actively lead and participate in departmental meetings, trainings, and ongoing education in Human Resources. Lead and assist in other assignments and special projects with Manufacturing or other business areas as requested.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, required. Graduate Degree, desired. HR Certification through SHRM or a similar organization, preferred.
Experience:
- 15+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience, with at least 5-7 years in a senior leadership role supporting multi-site manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a large HR team, managing employee relations in manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated success in implementing strategic HR initiatives in manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Experience creating and designing HR content and programs for a manufacturing organization. Large, multi-function as well as cross geographic manufacturing organizations.
Licenses or Certifications:
HR Certification through SHRM or similar organization, preferred. Continuous improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma Certification, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strategic and operational human resources knowledge specific to manufacturing environments.
- Strategic and operational manufacturing knowledge and understanding of production processes.
- Employment law and compliance knowledge, particularly as it relates to manufacturing operations.
- HRIS systems (preferably UKG) and data analytics knowledge. Continuous improvement, Lean, and Six Sigma knowledge.
- Strategic Planning Models and execution capabilities. Leadership and Organizational Development, best practices and assessment tools.
- Work process improvement and operational efficiency methods. Culture and change management in manufacturing settings.
- Communication and change-management skills.
- Strategic planning and execution skills through various manufacturing functions.
- Demonstrated leadership and collaboration through various manufacturing operations.
- Perform under strong demands in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Frequent travel required to all manufacturing sites and other Company facilities. Flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary to meet the needs of the manufacturing business.
