Overview

Worldpac, a leading name in automotive parts distribution, is looking for a Workers’ Compensation and Risk Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of workers’ compensation claims and lead proactive risk management programs across the U.S. and Canada. This role ensures compliance with regional regulatory requirements, minimizes injury-related costs, and partners cross-functionally with HR, Safety, Legal, and Operations. The Manager supports both U.S. and Canadian teams and is accountable for reducing occupational risk exposures, improving claim outcomes, and ensuring a safe return-to-work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all workers’ compensation claims (U.S. and Canada), from intake to closure, including timely filing, investigation, claim validation, and resolution.
  • Serve as primary liaison with insurance carriers, third-party administrators (TPAs), legal counsel, medical providers, and provincial or state regulatory bodies.
  • Analyze claim trends, costs, and loss drivers; develop and execute strategies to mitigate risks and lower total cost of risk (TCOR).
  • Oversee compliance with OSHA (U.S.), WSIB (Ontario), CNESST (Quebec), WorkSafeBC, and all relevant provincial/state laws.
  • Maintain current knowledge of legislative changes in workers’ compensation and employer liability regulations in both countries.
  • Design, manage, and continuously improve return-to-work (RTW) and modified duty programs tailored to location-specific laws and business needs.
  • Collaborate with safety and operational teams to conduct root cause analyses and support implementation of injury prevention programs.
  • Develop and deliver manager training and employee education related to injury prevention, claims handling, and documentation best practices.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential claims documentation and ensure regulatory reporting and internal audit readiness.
  • Effective communication and planning related to supporting/leading the Insurance renewal process and/or COI related tasks easily.
  • Prepare executive-level reports and dashboards summarizing trends, metrics, and strategic recommendations.
  • Occasional travel to U.S. and Canadian locations is required.

Qualifications

Education : Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Business Administration, or related field.

Must-Have Skills

  • Minimum 5-10 years of progressive experience in workers’ compensation, risk management, or insurance administration, ideally supporting both U.S. and Canadian operations.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, provincial workers’ comp systems (e.g., WSIB, CNESST, WorkSafeBC), and return-to-work laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, claims management systems, and incident tracking platforms.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and investigative skills; high emotional intelligence for dealing with sensitive employee matters.

Physical/Work Environment

  • Office-based role (Corporate HQ in Oak Brook, IL).
  • Occasional travel to U.S. and Canadian locations is required.
