Overview

Communications Technician 1 – Washington Metro Area (MD/VA/DC) with Security Clearance. In-person hiring event at M.C. Dean, Inc. Headquarters, Tysons, VA. Attendance is required to be considered for this position. M.C. Dean designs, builds, operates, and maintains cyber-physical solutions for mission-critical facilities and secure environments. Role: The Communications Technician is responsible for the planning, layout, and installation of new and retrofit communications equipment and systems in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. This includes site surveys, pulling and terminating copper and fiber optic cables, and installing ancillary communications systems. Hospital or airport experience is a plus. Responsibilities

Plan, lay out, and install new and retrofit communications equipment and systems per project plans and specifications. Conduct site surveys, pull copper and fiber optic cables, terminate and test to required standards. Install ancillary communications systems, panels, enclosures, racks, and electronics; label all components. Read and understand plans and specifications; install cable trays, interior conduit, raceways, and related infrastructure. Install plywood, racks, cabinets, and maintain clean, safe work areas. Mentor apprentices and assist in Outside Plant (OSP) installations. Pull cables (100 pair or smaller) and install prefab assemblies unassisted; participate in job site cleanup. Troubleshoot and repair communications cable issues; ensure safety, quality, production, and schedule adherence. Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with at least 3 years of experience. Must be 18 years of age. Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site; valid driver's license; ability to operate equipment (training provided). Ability to obtain a TS security clearance. Ability to read and understand plans and specifications. Ability to train and supervise apprentices in a team environment. Physical requirements: able to lift at least 100 pounds; capable of climbing and working at heights up to 60 feet; able to walk, climb, lift, kneel, and reach overhead; must have or be able to obtain suitable color vision and hearing to perform duties. Desired Skills

Experience in room build-out, Cat6/Cat6A and fiber optic termination; interpret and maintain drawings and as-builts; test and repair copper and fiber optic cabling. Experience with BlueBeam, Fluke Versiv, and MS Office (Word/Excel). Willingness to travel within the United States and internationally for up to 6 months per year. Benefits
