HVAC Mechanic

Overview HVAC Mechanic (FMSC-2025-22987) Bowhead seeks an HVAC Mechanic to join our team in Dahlgren, VA in support of our NSWC Dahlgren Facilities Maintenance Support contract. The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings. Responsibilities The HVAC Mechanic will require commercial HVAC experience in installation, operation, maintenance, overhaul and repair of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating systems, to include Direct Digital Control (DDC) HVAC < 5 tons. They will keep the Supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered. The HVAC Mechanic will work under close supervision, receiving technical guidance from the supervisor or higher-level technician. Work is checked frequently for accuracy. Job duties to include but not limited to: Installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems in buildings. Utilizes knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout. Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, uses hand tools; follows blueprints or engineering specifications. Fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment, and installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools. Also may cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools. May cut and thread pipes, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment; joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, coupling or unions. Solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant; installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit. Repair air conditioning systems to include Direct Digital Control (DDC) HVAC
