Overview
Director of Professional Development & Education role at The Valley Health System. This position leads professional development and education initiatives across the organization, with emphasis on developing evidence-based, outcome-focused, and culturally sensitive care. Responsibilities
Provides leadership, management and direction to continually improve and provide development opportunities for all professions within the George Washington University Hospital. Provides leadership and direction to improve the GWUH Service Excellence Standards. The Director develops, maintains and refines educational and consultative programs that support consistent, evidenced-based, outcome-focused, culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate care for patients across all clinical and non-clinical areas. This position has accountability for developing and sustaining a culture of excellence and the components of the Magnet Recognition Program in all areas within the George Washington University Hospital. This position will help develop and write the application for the Magnet Recognition Program, while considering all the standards and outcomes that have to be met. Lead efforts related to education and development for nursing and other clinical and non-clinical staff, aligning programs with national benchmarks and hospital goals. Position Summary

Education/Qualification: BSN MS in nursing or Masters degree in related field; Doctorate required Minimum 7 years of professional experience that demonstrates a progressive leadership background 3 to 5 years of progressive nursing management experience in an acute care setting 5 years nursing education experience Certification in specialty preferred Skills: Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities Demonstrated working knowledge nursing clinical practices and management. Knowledge of principles and practices relevant to clinical nursing specialty practice. Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices Highly developed written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated proficiency with common computer-based applications such as electronic mail, word processing and various databases EEO Statement
