As a Senior Database Administrator, you will serve as a member of the Enterprise Database Services Team, the function of which is to provide database administration services to various state agencies and to internal MNIT applications. The job calls for a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator with significant verifiable technical knowledge, skills, & abilities to support for various database environments, including those implemented on mainframe, cloud, and Linux, Unix, Windows (LUW). The position must possess the knowledge & skills necessary to work independently, but also the abilities & mindset to function effectively as part of a highly skilled team.

Position requires a minimum of five (5) years of IT related experience in database administration.
Experience must include:
Hands-on administration and support of IBM z/OS mainframe systems, including configuration, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Serving as a Db2 Database Administrator on z/OS (mainframe) with experience in versions 11, 12, or 13, including installation, upgrades, tuning, backup/recovery, and security administration.
Scripting experience using REXX to automate tasks, improve efficiency, and support mainframe operations.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the following:
Supporting Database in Mainframe, cloud environment including AWS or Azure.
z/os System Programming experience supporting Database
Database & SQL Tuning
DB2 driver, JDBC, distributed tools support
Physical Database Design - OLTP, OLAP
Encryption
ETL (Extract / Transform / Load)
